Howdy, I'm Nick Maglione.

I'm a battle-tested digital artist who's been building pretty, engaging experiences for the eCommerce, education, energy, and entertainment industries for two decades. At my core, I’m an inventor — a man with big, hairy ideas who loves to learn and take creative risks.

I've been a graphic sharecropper orbiting the canopied city of Atlanta for two dozen muggy summers. I'm very open to new opportunities and interesting projects from anywhere.

Can Do

CONSCIENTIOUS DESIGN

From paper to wireframe, pixels to code, I craft engaging, useful, profitable, and entertaining experiences. Form should follow function, function should follow creative objectives, and objectives should follow clearly defined business goals. My favorite place is the space between goals and form.

DYNAMIC ANIMATION

I love bringing the static to life; finding a fun, kinetic solution that helps someone accomplish something, engages, or excites them. To me, movement is icing on the cake. If a little (or a lot of) motion will add the polish a project needs, I’m more than capable – and thrilled – to make it happen.

MINDFUL ENGINEERING

The separation of design and content is the best thing that’s happened to the Internet since Al Gore. I strive to create markup as sparse as poetry; widen the chasm between style and substance; and hone my codecraft to find ways to build a better Interweb and faster render times.

INVENTION

Today, they label it “creative problem solving”. I endeavor – and I’m more than happy – to provide a creative solution that demands I use every one of my skills. I love coming up with brand-new ideas, exploring my craft, and helping others meet their goals in ways they never dreamed.

1998
Office & Design Assistant

This is where I cut my teeth. I mainly helped with the business end of a small design firm — bills and billing, organization, client and vendor management, and product production and delivery. Eventually, I got to assist the award-winning designers with conceptualization, design, and animation.

The Art Institute of Atlanta

BFA in Computer Animation

I primarily studied 3D animation, motion graphics, and web design; as well as photography, video editing, and architecture.

IBM Global Services

IBM Global Services

2003
Multimedia Consultant

I built a wide range of media solutions for many clients, including BMW, AT&T, BellSouth, and IBM. My tasks included producing internet commercials, content for large intranet e-learning and business training courses, marketing brochures, 3D character animation, and games.

The Home Depot

The Home Depot

2005
e-Content Designer

Here, I designed and built graphics, layouts, and animation for The Home Depot family of online storefronts. I scrupulously maintained the look and feel of each website, directed photo shoots, and edited photos. I helped manage projects and define processes to streamline workflow. I even trained new hires and directed contractors and junior team members.

USMotivation

USMotivation

2007
Interactive Designer

At USM, I designed, built, and/or coded animation, motion graphics, email templates, and websites that promoted incentive programs, delivered proposals, and sold products for clients like AT&T, Pfizer, Merck, and Shell. I maintained multiple brand standards and actively helped in decision making, outlining, and brainstorming large projects.

Turner Brand Experience

Turner Brand Experience

2010
Designer

Work at Turner's Corp. Com. arm was often late nights and exacting executives. When I wasn't building videos, graphics, and multimedia pieces for Cartoon Network’s, TBS/TNT’s, truTV’s, and TCM’s multimillion-dollar upfront shows, I was building presentation pieces for those same networks or developing and designing intra- and internet websites. I flexed with this great team through 2016.

Cartoon Network

Cartoon Network

2011
Interactive Designer

Yes, this job was as fun as it sounds. I built interactive pieces and animated graphics for cartoonnetwork.com: run-of-site elements, microsites, and animated homepage imagery. I designed, coded, animated, and/or art directed pieces for properties like Adventure Time, Uncle Grandpa, Steven Universe, and Dreamworks' Dragons — shows with vastly different aesthetics. Also pitched to and prototyped work for show creators. I worked with these folks into 2014.

TBS/TNT

TBS/TNT

2012
Interactive Designer

Here, I designed interactive pieces and graphics for show launches and updates on tbs.com and tnt.tv. I built advertisements, microsites, and full show sites. I designed, prototyped, and pitched pieces for properties like The Big Bang Theory, Conan, Dallas, Falling Skies, and Who Gets the Last Laugh. I played here well into 2013.

Georgia Power

2015
Editor & Multimedia Designer

Here, I built and maintained large-format interactive displays at both headquarters and in the public. I wrote, pitched, designed, directed, and animated videos and interactive pieces. I also helped the web team with multimedia, graphics, and front-end design.
